The choice of this name is connected to the term “alchemy”, the art of turning base metals into gold. Nothing could be closer to our mission: to convert something of little value, such as waste, into a valuable resource.
The choice of this name is connected to the term “alchemy”, the art of turning base metals into gold. Nothing could be closer to our mission: to convert something of little value, such as waste, into a valuable resource.
The intuition from which Kymia was born dates back to 2019, when Dr Arianna Campione discovered a high antioxidant power in what was normally considered a simple waste product: the hull of the Bronte pistachio.
This discovery led her to consider using one of its extracts in a finished cosmetic product with remarkable anti-ageing properties.
The Startup
In 2020, Dr Campione’s revolutionary idea took the form of an innovative start-up with the involvement of two other founders: Anna Cacopardo and Stefano Alberto Paganini. In the same year, Kymia launched the concept of its first product, attracting hundreds of pre-orders.
Two years later, Kymia S.R.L. was founded and its first product, the NO AGE – BOTOX LIKE face cream with Pistactive-f® extract, which immediately received positive feedback for its efficacy and purchasing experience.
The evolution
In May 2022, the company inaugurated a collaboration with the University of Catania, specifically with the departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agriculture and Biochemistry, from which new discoveries on the extract, which is patent pending, were born. At a later stage, Kymia decided to revolutionise its business model by selling its natural ingredients to companies in the cosmetics, nutraceutical and food & beverage industries.
